Having your roofing replaced is a major project because your entire roof vulnerable. You want to make sure that the person working on your roofing is qualified for the job. Here are four questions to ask your roofing contractor.

Are you a licensed contractor?

Not all states require that a contractor is licensed. In fact, Texas is one of those states. However, even if contractors aren’t required to have a license, it’s better to choose a contractor who is. That way, you can avoid having liability fall on your shoulders if the project is not completed properly. A license proves that a contractor has gone through proper training to obtain the license and knows what they’re doing.

Do you have insurance for worker’s compensation?

This is extremely important as it removes virtually all liability from your shoulders in the event that a worker is injured while on the job. You won’t want to have to pay for such an inconvenience out of pocket, so making sure that your contractor has worker’s compensation insurance.

Do you have liability insurance?

Another type of inurance that a roofing contractor should have is liabilty insurance. This way, even in the event that a horrible accident occurs, such as your house burning down, you will not be responsible for the cost of repairs.

Does my new roofing come with a warranty?

Most roofing projects come with a 25-year warranty, so you should expect a warrant of about that long. However, you shouldn’t hire a contractor who offers a warranty of less than 10 years.
